EVDS Dental Instruments: PowerFloat Quick Connect

PowerFloat Quick Connect Cordless Kit

The Cordless Quick Connect model is the latest evolution in PowerFloat technology. This newly designed system combines the performance of the "Cordless" model with a new quick-change system for changing from right angle and rotary shaft attachments in a matter of seconds.

This new design expands the versatility of the classic PowerFloat model, and eliminates the need for additional specialized floats such as for miniature horses.

Features

The new design Cordless Quick Connect system allows veterinarians greater flexibility. The PowerFloat has become the only dental instrument needed by veterinarians. The right angle design with its guarded, rotating, abrasive disc allows the veterinarian access to all regions of the mouth. Dental procedures are completed with speed and precision. The narrow right angle housing on the end of the shaft allow access to the caudal aspect of the horse's dental arcades. This design makes it possible to remove caudal hooks and ramps from the upper or lower arcade.

PowerFloat Quick Connect utilises traditional PowerFloat right angle design with a guarded rotating disc on quick connect attachment. Choice of type of abrasive wheel (diamond, solid carbide, carbide chip).

I have been using the Quick Connect Powerfloat now on the last 57 horses and compared it to the previous model as well as two other types of power floating instruments.

As with the previous PowerFloat model, it is much easier to use than non-PowerFloat types especially with the ability to rapidly change the head position for the upper and lower arcades. The Quick Connect Powerfloat is even easier to use than the original model (if that is possible) as the collar makes rotation of the shaft a simple process. This is where some users have had difficulties with the original Powerfloat.

I cannot wait until the “add-ons” are available here in Australia which will ensure that this instrument is the best possible power instrument for use in the horse for dental equilibration. These extra shafts with their different bur and disc configurations will make even the most difficult case much easier for the practitioner.
